If you haven’t visited the North and South Forks of eastern Long Island yet, you may want to take a trip. North Fork is filled with wineries, local farm stands, and a slower pace, compared to the hustle and bustle of New York City (1.5 hours west).
The South Fork has many fine beaches, including my favorite, Westhampton Beach, as well as many fine Hampton’s boutiques along your way to Montauk Point. Summer and Autumn are in my opinion great seasons. During the winter you can enjoy cross country skiing since we do get an abundance of snow, while you keep warm by the fire.
